Myiti has always had a passion for cultural history leading to her current role as a college Professor of African American Studies.  Her interest in research was sparked during her time as a graduate student at Northeastern Illinois University Center for Inner City Studies.  The experience deepened her understanding and knowledge of her own family history, a history interwoven with the struggles and triumphs of American and African American history.

Following family tradition, Myiti pursued her undergraduate studies at Hampton University where she majored in Business and minored in Theatre.   Growing up around media and publishing, Myiti also had a passion for journalism beginning her career as a reporter and editor for the Chicago Defender where she later became Associate Editor.

As a media and publishing expert, Myiti moved to New York City in 2003 where she became the founding Editor-in-Chief of the award winning national lifestyle magazine UPTOWN. After later returning to Chicago, Myiti launched Sengstacke Media Advisors (SMA, LLC.), an editorial and media consulting business that helps magazines, newspapers, websites, and corporations make their publications more compelling.

Myiti has been featured in several magazines and news publications such as IDEA Magazines, Black Enterprise, Essence, Ebony and Jet, the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times.  Broadcast media interviews include CNN and PBS.
